Carp is the first fish I created this year in tridimensional technique.
The Carp, in oriental artistic readings, symbolizes perseverance and loyalty. We often find it as a “steed” or messenger of the ever-moving deities, it has extreme longevity and enormous strength. These are the characteristics that also define her as the Samurai’s alter ego: courageous, strong and patient.
A legend tells of a Carp so courageous and persevering that he sailed up the entire Yellow River facing a thousand adversities, dangers and evil spirits. In the face of so much courage, the Gods could not do anything but transform her into a shining dragon, thus acquiring the gift of immortality.
Only with perseverance and constancy, as the Carp did, can the human being reach heights of knowledge and consciousness, thus becoming a superior being.
The mosaic was made using the direct technique tridimensional on a wooden panel.
Materials: Mixed Venetian smalti, porcelain, antique yellow Venetian gold (24K gold leaf), brass wire, recycled materials.
