A painting that was once part of my private collection now needs to “flow”.
Like all abstract works, “River” also originates from a period of my life. Here, a transition unfolds, a passage from a moment of darkness towards light. The artwork develops horizontally towards the right, starting from gray stone with fused glass inserts on ceramic, to the undulating Venetian gold white, transparent Venetian enamel, and inserts of crystals and fused glass. The element of water permeates the entire composition, metaphorically representing my feelings becoming clearer as they flow towards the right, just as my “sense” becomes more distinct and imbued with rediscovered serenity.
Life is a continual flow from one state to another, and the events we experience inevitably shape our being. Expressing these feelings through materials and colors helps me remember that every period of darkness is always followed by a period of light and rebirth.
The mosaic was made using the direct technique on of wood.
Materials: Venetian orange antique gold (24K gold leaf), mixed venetian smalti, golden Italian stone of Nanto, yellow Italian Travertino marble, ceramic, copper, crystals, mother of pearl.
